I am Matyas Rathonyi, the independent developer behind Clamshell. I built the app after losing long coding-agent sessions to normal MacBook lid-close sleep and finding that the usual keep-awake advice solved a different problem.
How the guides are researched
Power-management articles are checked against the manuals shipped with current macOS, Apple's public documentation, and repeatable tests on Apple Silicon MacBooks. When a command is undocumented, the guide says so. When behavior differs between idle sleep and lid-close sleep, the distinction stays explicit.
How the app is tested
Clamshell is tested on real MacBook hardware across lid close and open, battery and wall-power transitions, low-battery handling, app crashes, clean quits, and long overnight sessions. The app uses an unprivileged IOKit call and does not install a kernel extension, privileged helper, or daemon.
Commercial interest
Clamshell is a paid product, so guides that mention it have an obvious commercial connection. Comparisons describe the scope and trade-offs of each option, including free commands and competing apps, instead of presenting Clamshell as the only possible answer.
